The coffee has gentle fruit flavors with clear, sweet notes like simple syrup, earthy teas (think Pu'er or Yerba Mate), and strong floral scents, especially jasmine that sticks around. It has a dark honey sweetness, sweet tea, and jasmine, with cooling tastes of canned pear, white grape juice, and a zesty lemon vibe boosted by lemon verbena. You’ll also notice barley tea with a hint of lime and a slight bitter edge in the finish. Plus, there’s a juicy stone fruit nectar flavor mixed with some bitter cocoa.

The Benti Nenka processing site, located in the village of Benti Nenka in Ethiopia’s Guji Zone, Hambela Wamena region, sources coffee from approximately 700 local farmers, each managing small plots with about 150 trees, yielding 1-2 60 kg bags of green coffee annually. Family-run farms, typically using organic methods (though not certified), grow coffee at high altitudes between 1850 and 2100 meters. Cherries are sorted on tarps to remove unripe ones before delivery to the mill, where they are further sorted on drying tables to ensure quality and uniformity. Despite multiple wet mills in the area sharing the Benti Nenka name and often sourcing from the same producers, resulting in similar flavor profiles, this coffee comes from a new supplier.
